Terms of Service & Methodology
Version: 2.0 (April 2026)
Guidelines for use and the technical framework of the Restoration Lab research protocols.
1. Terms of Use
By accessing RestorationLab.uk, you agree to utilize our technical findings for educational and hobbyist purposes. Our “Lab Reports” are the result of independent testing and are protected by UK Intellectual Property laws. Unauthorized scraping or automated reproduction of our data is strictly prohibited.
2. Our Scientific Methodology
To maintain our status as a technical Utility Hub, every product reviewed at RestorationLab.uk is subjected to the Restoration Lab Protocol. This ensures all comparisons are “Like-for-Like” and scientifically sound.
- Environmental Consistency: All chemical tests (lacquers, oils, strippers) are conducted at a controlled 18°C with 55% relative humidity to replicate standard UK workshop conditions.
- Clarity Analysis: Finishes are evaluated under D65 daylight simulation (6500K) to measure refractive depth and grain enhancement.
- Mechanical Stress Tests: Power tools are evaluated for vibration levels and decibel output under standard load to assess long-term ergonomic safety.
- Chemical Resistance: Finished surfaces are subjected to 24-hour exposure tests using common household catalysts (red wine, boiling water, and isopropyl alcohol).
3. Product Selection & Rankings
Our “Top 10” lists are not based on popularity or “paid placements.” We select products based on their Technical Merit and availability within the UK market. A product only enters our lab for testing if it meets our baseline criteria for “Material Honesty” and professional-grade durability.
4. Health & Safety Liability Disclaimer
Restoration involves hazardous chemicals and high-speed machinery. While the Lab provides safety protocols, you are solely responsible for your own workshop safety. You must always consult the manufacturer’s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before use. RestorationLab.uk is not liable for personal injury, property damage, or unsuccessful restorations resulting from the use of our guides.
5. Affiliate Relationship
This site is supported by our readers. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. This financial model allows us to purchase expensive lab equipment and chemical supplies for testing without compromising our editorial independence.
